Surah “Those Who Drag Forth, Soul-snatchers, Those Who Pulled Out”

as rendered by Sahib Mustaqim Bleher — 46 verses

By the collectors (of the soul),
Who tie it down,
And travel (with it),
Then move ahead,
Then organise affairs.
On the day of trembling,
Followed by another,
Hearts will be pounding that day,
With eyes downcast.
They will say: are we to be returned to our prior state,
When we were decayed bones?
They will say: this return would be a loss.
But it is only a single shout.
Then they are in wakefulness.
Has the story of Musa (Moses) reached you?
When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:
Go to Pharaoh, he is transgressing.
And say: are you willing to purify yourself,
And I guide you to your Lord, so you fear (Him)?
And he showed him the great sign.
But he denied and disobeyed.
Then he turned away hastily,
And gathered and announced,
And said: I am your highest Lord.
Then Allah overtook him with punishment in the hereafter and this world.
In this is a lesson for those who fear.
Are you stronger in creation or the sky which He built?
He raised its canopy and made it well-proportioned,
And made its night dark and brought out its morning light.
And after that He spread out the earth,
Brought out its water from it and its pasture,
And anchored the mountains.
A provision for you and for your cattle.
Then, when the great calamity comes,
That day man will remember what he strove for.
And hell-fire will be presented to those who see.
So whoever transgressed,
And preferred the life of this world,
Hell-fire is his home.
And whoever feared standing before his Lord and prevented his soul from desire,
The garden is his home.
They ask you about the hour, when it will happen.
How could you know about it?
Its conclusion is up to your Lord.
You only warn those who fear it.
On the day they see it, it will be as if they had only stayed an evening or a morning.
