The Hour has drawn near, and the moon was split
While [now] if they see a sign, they dismissively turn away, saying, “Persistent sorcery.”
And they have belied the Truth and followed their whims. While every matter is ever firmly set.
And the accounts [concerning the past beliers] have already come to them. What is therein, is a cautionary warning—
relevant wisdom. But then, the warnings avail not.
So, turn you away from them. On a day, the caller will call to an ineffable thing.
Their sights lowered, they will emerge from their repositories, as if they were locusts on the loose,
rushing towards the caller. The disbelievers will say, “This is a hard day.”
Before them, the people of Noah denied the truth— they denied OUR servant and had said, “A man possessed,” and he was deterred.
So, he called upon his Rabb, “I have been overcome, do then YOU vindicate.”
So, WE opened the gates of the sky to cascading water
While WE caused the earth to burst with gushing water. Thus, met the waters, in compliance to a command, predetermined.
And WE carried him on a composition of planks and fasteners
It took its course under OUR sight— a requital for one who was rejected.
And WE have left it to be a sign. So, is there anyone taking note?
So then how was MY punishment and MY warnings?
WE have indeed made the Quran easy for the remembrance [of God]. So then is anyone taking note?
ʿĀd denied the Truth. So then how was MY punishment and MY warnings?
Surely, WE sent upon them a cold howling gale in a day of unrelenting calamity,
swooping off men as if they were trunks of uprooted date palms.
So then, how was MY punishment and MY warnings?
WE have indeed made the Quran easy for the remembrance [of God]. So then is anyone taking note?
The Thamūd denied the warnings,
So [in denial] they had said, “One single mortal from amongst us— are we to follow him? If we were to do so, we indeed would end up deep in error and a mad firestorm.
Has the divine message been cast upon him, from amongst all of us? Nay he is an exuberant liar.”
[It was said], “Tomorrow they shall know, who is the exuberant liar.
WE are the she-camel’s Sender— a trial for them. So, watch them and persevere.
And inform them that the water is an allocation between them— every drinking turn, an accorded access.”
But they summoned one of them, he took charge and hamstrung [her].
So then how was MY punishment and MY warnings?
Verily, WE sent upon them a single blast and they became like the left-over wood fragments of the fence maker.
WE have indeed made the Quran easy for the remembrance [of God]. So then is anyone taking note?
The people of Lot [also] denied the warnings.
WE sent upon them a deadly storm— excepting the lineage of Lot; WE saved them before the day broke—
A favor from US. Thus, do WE compensate one who has been grateful.
And he did warn them of OUR mighty reach— but they were skeptical of the warning.
They did accost him to yield his guests. In return, WE wiped out their sights. So [with your un-availed vision now taken away], taste MY punishment and [the truth in] MY warnings.
And indeed, come morning— start of day, an in-place entombing punishment came upon them.
So [their time had come]: taste MY punishment and [the truth in] MY warnings.
WE have indeed made the Quran easy for the remembrance [of God]. So then is anyone taking note?
We did indeed send the warnings to the ilk of Pharaoh.
They rejected all of OUR signs. So, WE seized them— a seizing of One almighty, assignor of all fates.
Are the disbelievers of you better than those [earlier ones]? Or do you have absolution in the scriptures?
Or do they say, “We are a self-sustaining collective”?
The collective will soon be routed, and they will flee showing their backs.
Rather, the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour will be most calamitous and most bitter.
Surely, the flouters of divine guidance are deep in error and a mad firestorm.
On a day they will be dragged into the fire upon their faces: Partake the scrub of Saqar.
Of certain, WE have created everything in a precise measure.
And OUR command is not but singularly one— like the split-moment with the sight.
WE have destroyed your kind before. So then is anyone taking note?
And each thing which they have done is in the scriptures [containing the accounts of the former peoples].
And everything small and big is a record by item.
Verily, the God-conscious will be amidst gardens and flowing water,
in the seat of truth, in the presence of a Sovereign Who destines all things and their measure.
