Ha-Mim.
By the clear book (the Qur’an).
Surely We sent it (this Qur’an) down in a blessed night (of Qadr in the month of Ramadan). Surely, We are ever warning (mankind).
in it (that night) every matter is decided wisely,
by a command from Us. Surely, We have ever sending (the Messengers),
(as) Mercy from your Lord. Surely! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you have faith with certainty.
There is no true one worthy of worship but He. It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.
Nay! They play in doubt.
Then you wait for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke,
covering the people, this will be a painful punishment.
(People will say): “Our Lord! Remove the punishment from us, really we have become believers!”
How can there be an admonition (at the time when the punishment has reached) for them when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them
Yet, they turn away from him (Muhammad) and said: “He (Muhammad) is a madman, taught (by others)!”
Surely, We shall remove the punishment (famine) for a while. But you will return (to disbelief).
On the Day We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Surely, We will take retribution.
And indeed We tried Pharaoh’s people before them, when a noble Messenger (Moses) came to them,
saying: “Deliver the servants of Allah (the children of Israel) to me. Surely! I am a Messenger to you worthy of all trust.
And don’t exalt (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a clear authority.
And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.
But if you don’t believe me, then keep away from me and leave me alone.”
So he (Moses) called upon (when they were aggressive) his Lord (saying) indeed: “These are criminal people.”
(Allah said): “You depart with My servants by night. Surely, you will be pursued.
And (when you have crossed the sea with your people), then leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Surely, they are a host to be drowned.”
How many gardens and springs did they (Pharaoh’s people) leave behind,
and corn-fields and goodly places,
and comforts (of life) they used to take delight in it!
Thus We made other people inherit them (the children of Israel inherit the kingdom of Egypt).
And neither the heavens and the earth did weep for them, nor were they given a respite.
And indeed We saved the children of Israel from the humiliating punishment
from Pharaoh. Surely! He was arrogant and was one of the transgressors,
and surely, We chose them (the children of Israel) above the worlds (during the time of Moses) with knowledge.
And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial.
Surely, these (people of Quraish) say:
“There is nothing after our first death and we shall not be resurrected.
Bring back our forefathers if you speak the truth!”
Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed criminals.
And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for merely a play.
We have not created them but (to reveal) the truth, but most of them don’t know.
Surely, the Day of judgment is the time appointed for all of them,
the Day when a near relative cannot avail a relative in anything, nor they can receive help
except those on whom Allah will show Mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Surely, the tree of Zaqqum (very bitter taste),
will be the food of the sinners,
like boiling oil, it will boil in the bellies,
like the boiling of scalding water.
(It will be said): “Seize and drag him into the midst of blazing fire,
then pour from the punishment of boiling water over its head,
taste you (this)! Surely, you were (pretending to be) the mighty, the noble!
Surely! This is what you used to doubt about it!”
Surely! The pious will be in place of security (Paradise),
among gardens and springs;
dressed in fine silk and also in thick silk, facing each other.
So (it will be), and We shall marry them to Houris (fair females) with wide lovely eyes.
They will call in it for every kind of fruit in peace and security;
they will never taste death in it except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the punishment of the blazing fire
as a Bounty from your Lord! That will be the supreme success!
Certainly, We have made this (Qur’an) easy in your tongue in order that they may remember.
Wait then (O Muhammad); surely, they too are waiting.
