Ha Mim
By the Book that makes plain
Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning (against evil and its consequences)
Therein (the blessed night) every wise affair is made clear
A command from Us; surely We are ever the senders (of revelations)
As a mercy from your Lord. Surely He is the Hearer, the Knower
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure (in faith.
There is no God but He; He quickens and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers
Nay, but they make sport in doubt
Therefore, keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring evident smoke (or mist)
That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment
(They pray,) "Our Lord! Remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers."
How can they remember (or understand Allah or the message), when a Messenger making clear (the truth) had already come to them
Butt they had turned their backs on him and said, "He is one taught by others, a madman."
Lo! We remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil)
On the day when We will seize them with a mighty seizing, We will indeed exact retribution
And certainly We tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble Messenger
Saying, "Deliver to me the servants of Allah; surely I am a trustworthy messenger unto you
"And be not arrogant against Allah, for I come with clear authority
"And surely I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord against your stoning me to death
"And if you put no faith in me, then let me go."
Then he called upon his Lord, "These are a guilty people"
(The reply came,) "So go forth with My servants by night; for surely you will be pursued
"And leave the sea divided (as a furrow); surely they are a host that shall be drowned."
How many are the gardens and springs they have left behind
And corn fields and noble places
And goodly things wherein they rejoiced
Thus it was, and We gave them as a heritage to another people
So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited
And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement
From Pharaoh; surely he was haughty, (and) one of those who committed excesses
And certainly We chose them, knowingly (or purposely), above all the nations
And We gave them signs wherein was a clear trial
Lo! These (the pagan Arabs) say
"There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again
"Bring back our fathers, if you are truthful."
What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty
And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport
We create them both not, except with truth, but most of them know not
Assuredly the Day of Decision (or of Sorting) is the term appointed for all of them
The day on which friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped
Save those on whom Allah has mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful
Behold the tree of Zaqqum
Is the food of the sinful
Like molten brass, it shall boil in (their) bellies
Like the seesing of boiling water
(It will be said,) "Seize him, then drag him down into the midst of hell
Then pour above his head of the torment of the boiling water
"Saying, ´Taste; lo! You were forsooth the mighty, the noble
"´Surely this is what you used to doubt!´"
Surely the righteous are in a secure place
Amidst Gardens and springs
Attired in fine silk and rich brocade, face to face
Thus shall it be, and We will join them with Houris (pure and beautiful companions) with wide, lovely eyes
They shall call in safety therein for every fruit
They taste not death therein except the first death (i.e. in this physical life), and He will have saved them from the doom of hell
A grace from your Lord; this is the supreme achievement (or triumph)
Verily We have made it (the Quran) easy in your tongue that they may be mindful
Therefore wait (O Muhammad); they too are waiting
