Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Quran.
Perhaps those who disbelieved will wish they had been Muslims.
Leave them to eat and enjoy themselves, let hope distract them, for soon they will know.
We never destroyed a town except that it had a known decree.
No nation can advance its appointed time, nor can they delay it.
They said, "O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down, you are truly insane!
Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are truthful?"
We do not send down the angels except with truth, and then they would not be given respite.
We have sent down the Reminder, and We will surely preserve it.
We sent messengers before you among the factions of earlier peoples.
No messenger came to them except that they mocked him.
This is how We let it pass through the hearts of the criminals.
They will not believe in it, though the pattern of earlier peoples has already passed.
Even if We opened for them a gate from the sky and they kept ascending through it,
They would say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. No, we are a people bewitched!"
We have placed constellations in the sky and made it beautiful for those who gaze.
We have guarded it from every outcast devil,
Except one who steals a hearing, and a clear flame pursues him.
The earth We have spread out, cast upon it firm mountains, and caused to grow in it everything in due measure.
We have made in it means of livelihood for you and for those you do not provide for.
There is nothing whose treasuries are not with Us, and We send it down only in a known measure.
We send the winds as pollinators, then We send down water from the sky and give it to you to drink, and you are not its keepers.
We give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritors.
We know those among you who came before, and We know those who came after.
Your Lord will gather them. He is Wise, All-Knowing.
We created the human being from dried clay, from molded dark mud.
The jinn We created before, from the fire of scorching wind.
Your Lord said to the angels, "I am creating a human being from dried clay, from molded dark mud."
"When I have shaped him and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration."
So the angels prostrated, all of them together.
Except Iblis. He refused to be among those who prostrated.
He said, "O Iblis, what is wrong with you that you are not among those who prostrated?"
He said, "I would never prostrate to a human being You created from dried clay, from molded dark mud."
He said, "Then get out of here, for you are expelled."
"The curse will be upon you until the Day of Judgment."
He said, "My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected."
He said, "You are among those granted respite."
"Until the Day of the appointed time."
He said, "My Lord, because You have led me astray, I will make things alluring to them on earth, and I will lead them all astray."
"Except Your servants among them who are sincere."
He said, "This is a straight path binding upon Me."
"Over My servants you have no authority, except those who follow you from among the deviant."
Hell is the promised place for all of them.
It has seven gates, and for each gate is an assigned portion of them.
Those who are mindful of God will be in gardens and springs.
"Enter them in peace, secure."
We will strip away whatever resentment is in their hearts. As brothers, they will be on couches facing one another.
No weariness will touch them there, and they will never be expelled from it.
Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful.
And that My punishment is the painful punishment.
Tell them about the guests of Abraham.
When they entered upon him and said, "Peace," he said, "We are afraid of you."
They said, "Do not be afraid. We bring you good news of a knowledgeable son."
He said, "You give me good news even though old age has touched me? What exactly are you announcing?"
They said, "We give you good news in truth, so do not be among those who despair."
He said, "Who despairs of his Lord's mercy except those who are astray?"
He said, "So what is your mission, O messengers?"
They said, "We have been sent to a criminal people."
Except the family of Lot. We will save them all.
Except his wife. We have decreed that she will be among those who remain behind.
When the messengers came to the family of Lot.
He said, "You are strangers to me."
They said, "Rather, we have come to you with what they have been doubting."
We have brought you the truth, and we are truthful.
So travel with your family in a portion of the night, follow behind them, and let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded.
We conveyed to him this decree: the last remnant of these people will be cut off by morning.
The people of the city came rejoicing.
He said, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me."
Be mindful of God and do not humiliate me.
They said, "Did we not forbid you from protecting anyone?"
He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act."
By your life, they were wandering blindly in their intoxication.
The blast seized them at sunrise.
We turned it upside down and rained upon them stones of baked clay.
In that are signs for those who read the signs.
It lies along a road still traveled.
In that is a sign for the believers.
The people of the Thicket were wrongdoers.
So We took vengeance on them. Both cities lie on a clear highway.
The people of the Stone Valley rejected the messengers.
We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them.
They carved homes from the mountains, feeling secure.
The blast seized them in the morning.
Nothing they had earned could help them.
We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is coming, so forgive graciously.
Your Lord is the Supreme Creator, the All-Knowing.
We have given you the seven oft-repeated verses and the magnificent Quran.
Do not extend your eyes toward what We have given some of them to enjoy, and do not grieve over them. Lower your wing to the believers.
Say, "I am the clear warner."
Just as We sent down upon the dividers.
Those who broke the Quran into fragments.
By your Lord, We will question them all.
About what they used to do.
So proclaim what you are commanded and turn away from those who associate partners with God.
We are enough for you against the mockers.
Those who set up another god alongside God. They will come to know.
We know that your chest tightens at what they say.
So glorify your Lord with praise and be among those who prostrate.
Worship your Lord until certainty comes to you.
