Surah “The Bee”

as rendered by Talal Itani & AI (2025) — 128 verses

The command of God has come, so do not seek to hasten it. Glory be to Him, far above what they associate with Him.
He sends down the angels with the Spirit by His command upon whomever He wills of His servants: "Warn that there is no god but Me, so be mindful of Me."
He created the heavens and the earth in truth. Far exalted is He above what they associate with Him.
He created the human being from a drop of fluid, and suddenly he becomes an open adversary.
Livestock He created for you: in them is warmth and benefits, and from them you eat.
In them is beauty for you when you bring them home in the evening and when you drive them out to pasture.
They carry your heavy loads to lands you could not reach except with great hardship. Your Lord is truly Compassionate, Merciful.
Horses, mules, and donkeys for you to ride and as adornment. He creates what you do not know.
Upon God lies the straight path, though some paths deviate. Had He willed, He would have guided you all.
He is the One who sends down water from the sky. From it you have drink, and from it grow plants on which you graze your livestock.
With it He grows for you crops, olives, date palms, grapes, and every kind of fruit. In that is a sign for people who reflect.
He has made the night and the day serve you, and the sun and the moon. The stars are made to serve by His command. In that are signs for people who reason.
What He has spread throughout the earth for you in varying colors: in that is a sign for people who remember.
He is the One who made the sea serve you, so you may eat fresh meat from it and extract from it ornaments you wear. You see ships plowing through it, so you may seek His favor and perhaps give thanks.
He cast firm mountains into the earth so it does not shake with you, and rivers and pathways so you may find your way.
And landmarks. By the stars they are guided.
Is the One who creates like those who cannot create? Will you not reflect?
If you tried to count God's blessings, you could never tally them. God is truly Forgiving, Merciful.
God knows what you conceal and what you reveal.
Those they invoke besides God create nothing; they themselves are created.
Dead, not alive, and they have no awareness of when they will be resurrected.
Your God is One God. Those who do not believe in the Hereafter have hearts that deny, and they are arrogant.
Without doubt, God knows what they conceal and what they reveal. He does not love the arrogant.
When they are asked, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Ancient fables."
Let them carry their full burdens on the Day of Resurrection, along with some burdens of those they misled without knowledge. How terrible is what they carry!
Those before them plotted, but God struck at the foundations of their structure, and the roof collapsed on them from above. The punishment came at them from where they never expected.
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My partners over whom you used to argue?" Those given knowledge will say, "Disgrace and misery today fall upon the disbelievers."
Those whom the angels take while they are wronging themselves will offer submission: "We were not doing any evil." But yes, God knows well what you used to do.
So enter the gates of Hell to remain there forever. How wretched is the dwelling of the arrogant!
When those who were mindful of God are asked, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Goodness." For those who do good in this world there is good, and the home of the Hereafter is better. How excellent is the home of the righteous!
Gardens of eternity they will enter, with rivers flowing beneath them. There they will have whatever they wish. This is how God rewards the righteous.
Those whom the angels take while they are pure, saying, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."
Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or for your Lord's command to arrive? Those before them did the same. God did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves.
So the evil consequences of what they did struck them, and what they used to mock surrounded them.
Those who associate partners with God say, "If God had willed, we would not have worshiped anything besides Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything without His command." Those before them did the same. Are the messengers responsible for anything but clear delivery?
We sent a messenger to every nation: "Worship God and shun false gods." Among them were some whom God guided, and among them were some upon whom misguidance was justified. So travel through the earth and see what became of the deniers.
Even if you are eager for their guidance, God does not guide those He leaves astray, and they will have no helpers.
They swear by God their most solemn oaths that God will not resurrect the dead. But yes, it is a binding promise upon Him, though most people do not know.
So that He may make clear to them what they differed about, and so that those who disbelieved may know that they were liars.
When We will something, Our only command to it is to say, "Be," and it is.
Those who emigrated for God's sake after being wronged, We will surely settle them in a good place in this world, but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they knew.
Those who were patient and put their trust in their Lord.
We sent before you only men to whom We revealed. So ask the people of knowledge if you do not know.
With clear proofs and scriptures. We sent down to you the Reminder so that you may make clear to people what was sent down to them, and so that they may reflect.
Do those who plot evil deeds feel secure that God will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that punishment will not come upon them from where they do not expect?
Or that He will not seize them in the midst of their activities? They cannot escape.
Or that He will not seize them through gradual decline? Your Lord is truly Compassionate, Merciful.
Have they not seen how the shadows of everything God created shift from right to left, prostrating to God in humility?
To God prostrates every creature in the heavens and on earth, and the angels, and they are not arrogant.
They fear their Lord above them and do whatever they are commanded.
God has said, "Do not take two gods. He is one God, so fear Me alone."
To Him belongs everything in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is due constant obedience. Will you then be mindful of anyone other than God?
Whatever blessing you have is from God. Then when hardship touches you, to Him you cry out.
Then when He removes the hardship from you, a group among you associates partners with their Lord.
So they deny what We have given them. Enjoy yourselves then, for you will soon know.
They assign a share of what We have provided them to things they know nothing about. By God, you will be questioned about what you used to fabricate.
They assign daughters to God, glory be to Him, while they keep for themselves what they desire.
When one of them is given news of a female child, his face darkens and he is filled with suppressed rage.
He hides from the people because of the bad news he received. Should he keep her in humiliation or bury her in the ground? How evil is their judgment!
Those who do not believe in the Hereafter deserve the worst description, while to God belongs the highest description. He is the Almighty, the Wise.
If God were to punish people for their wrongdoing, He would not leave a single creature on earth. But He delays them until an appointed time. When their time comes, they cannot delay it by a single hour, nor can they advance it.
They assign to God what they themselves dislike, and their tongues utter the lie that the best reward is theirs. Without doubt, theirs is the Fire, and they will be abandoned there.
By God, We sent messengers to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds appealing to them. He is their ally today, and they will have a painful punishment.
We have only sent down the Book to you so that you may clarify for them what they differ about, and as guidance and mercy for people who believe.
God sends down water from the sky and revives the earth with it after its death. In that is a sign for people who listen.
There is a lesson for you in livestock: We give you to drink from what is in their bellies, from between waste and blood, pure milk, smooth and pleasant for those who drink it.
From the fruits of date palms and grapevines you derive intoxicants and wholesome provision. In this is a sign for people who reason.
Your Lord inspired the bee: "Make your homes in the mountains, in the trees, and in the structures people build."
"Then eat from all the fruits and follow the pathways your Lord has made easy for you." From their bellies comes a drink of varying colors, in which there is healing for people. In this is a sign for people who reflect.
God created you, then He takes your souls. Some of you are left to reach the most feeble old age, so that after having knowledge, they know nothing at all. God is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.
God has favored some of you over others in provision. Yet those who have been favored would never hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess so that they become equal in it. Will they then deny the blessings of God?
God has made for you spouses from among yourselves, and through your spouses He has given you children and grandchildren, and He has provided you with good things. Will they then believe in falsehood and deny the blessings of God?
They worship besides God things that have no power to provide them with anything from the heavens or the earth, nor can they ever have such power.
So do not make comparisons for God. God knows and you do not know.
God sets forth a parable: a slave who is owned and has no power over anything, and one whom We have provided with good provision from Us, and he spends from it secretly and openly. Are they equal? All praise belongs to God. But most of them do not know.
God sets forth a parable of two men: one of them is mute, unable to do anything, and he is a burden on his master. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice and is on a straight path?
To God belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth. The matter of the Hour is nothing but the blink of an eye, or even closer. God has power over all things.
God brought you out of your mothers' wombs knowing nothing, and He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts, so that you might be grateful.
Do they not see the birds held in flight in the open sky? Nothing holds them up but God. In this are signs for people who believe.
God has made your homes a place of rest for you, and made for you from the hides of livestock portable homes that you find light on the day you travel and the day you settle. From their wool, fur, and hair He gave you furnishings and goods for a time.
God has made for you shade from what He created, and made for you shelters in the mountains, and made for you garments to protect you from the heat and garments to protect you in battle. This is how He perfects His blessing upon you, so that you might submit to Him.
If they turn away, your only duty is to deliver the message clearly.
They recognize the blessings of God, then deny them. Most of them are ungrateful.
On the Day We raise from every nation a witness, those who disbelieved will not be permitted to speak, nor will they be allowed to make amends.
When the wrongdoers see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be given respite.
When those who associated partners with God see their partners, they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners whom we used to call upon besides You." But they will throw back at them the words, "You are liars."
On that Day they will offer total submission to God, and all they used to fabricate will abandon them.
Those who disbelieved and turned others away from God's path, We will add punishment upon punishment for the corruption they spread.
On the Day We raise in every nation a witness against them from among themselves, We will bring you as a witness against these people. We have sent down to you the Book as a clarification for all things, a guidance, a mercy, and good news for those who submit.
God commands justice, excellence, and giving to relatives. He forbids indecency, wrongdoing, and aggression. He instructs you so that you may take heed.
Fulfill your covenant with God when you make a covenant, and do not break your oaths after confirming them, for you have made God your guarantor. God knows what you do.
Do not be like the woman who unraveled her yarn after spinning it strong, using your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves because one community is more numerous than another. God only tests you through this, and He will make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection what you used to differ about.
Had God willed, He would have made you one nation, but He leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. You will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
Do not use your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, lest a foot slip after being firmly planted, and you taste misery for having turned others from God's path, and you face a tremendous punishment.
Do not sell your covenant with God for a small price. What is with God is far better for you, if only you knew.
What you have runs out, but what God has remains. We will surely reward those who were patient according to the best of what they used to do.
Whoever does good, whether male or female, while being a believer, We will grant them a good life, and We will reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
When you read the Quran, seek refuge in God from Satan, the outcast.
He has no power over those who believe and place their trust in their Lord.
His power is only over those who take him as an ally and those who associate partners with God through him.
When We replace one verse with another, and God knows best what He sends down, they say, "You are just a fabricator." But most of them do not know.
Say, "The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord with truth, to strengthen those who believe, and as guidance and good news for those who submit."
We know well that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him." The language of the one they point to is foreign, while this is clear Arabic.
Those who do not believe in the signs of God, God will not guide them, and they will have a painful punishment.
Only those who do not believe in the verses of God fabricate lies, and it is they who are the liars.
Whoever disbelieves in God after having believed, except one who is forced while his heart remains secure in faith, but whoever opens his chest to disbelief, upon them is wrath from God, and for them is a tremendous punishment.
That is because they preferred the life of this world over the Hereafter, and because God does not guide the disbelieving people.
Those are the ones upon whose hearts, hearing, and sight God has set a seal, and those are the heedless.
Without doubt, in the Hereafter they will be the losers.
Then your Lord, for those who emigrated after they were persecuted, then struggled and persevered, your Lord after all that is truly Forgiving, Merciful.
On the Day when every soul will come pleading for itself, and every soul will be paid in full for what it did, and they will not be wronged.
God sets forth a parable: a town that was secure and at peace, its provision coming to it abundantly from every place. Then it denied the blessings of God, so God made it taste the garment of hunger and fear because of what they used to do.
A messenger from among themselves had come to them, but they rejected him, so the punishment seized them while they were wrongdoers.
So eat from what God has provided you, lawful and good, and be grateful for the blessing of God if it is Him you worship.
He has only forbidden you carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been slaughtered in the name of other than God. But whoever is driven by necessity, neither craving nor transgressing, then God is Forgiving, Merciful.
Do not say, based on the lies your tongues utter, "This is lawful and this is forbidden," inventing lies against God. Those who invent lies against God will not succeed.
A brief enjoyment, and for them is a painful punishment.
To the Jews We forbade what We related to you before. We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves.
Then your Lord, to those who did evil out of ignorance and afterward repented and made amends, your Lord after that is truly Forgiving, Merciful.
Abraham was a nation unto himself, devoutly obedient to God, upright, and he was not among those who associate partners with God.
Grateful for His blessings. He chose him and guided him to a straight path.
We gave him good in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.
Then We revealed to you: Follow the way of Abraham, upright, and he was not among those who associate partners with God.
The Sabbath was imposed only on those who differed over it. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they used to differ about.
Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good counsel, and debate with them in the best manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are guided.
If you retaliate, retaliate with the equivalent of what was inflicted upon you. But if you are patient, that is better for the patient.
Be patient, and your patience is only through God. Do not grieve over them, and do not be distressed by their scheming.
God is with those who are mindful of Him and those who do good.
