وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
wakadhaba bil-ḥus’nā
fasanuyassiruhu lil’ʿus’rā
wamā yugh’nī ʿanhu māluhu idhā taraddā
inna ʿalaynā lalhudā
wa-inna lanā lalākhirata wal-ūlā
fa-andhartukum nāran talaẓẓā
yaṣlāhā illā l-ashqā
alladhī kadhaba watawallā
wasayujannabuhā l-atqā
alladhī yu’tī mālahu yatazakkā
wamā li-aḥadin ʿindahu min niʿ’matin tuj’zā
illā ib’tighāa wajhi rabbihi l-aʿlā
walasawfa yarḍā
and denies the best (i.e., finest reward)
And denies the best,
Generally Accepted Translations of the Meaning
and calls the ultimate good a lie –
And disbelieveth in goodness
And gives the lie to the best,
and ˹staunchly˺ denies the finest reward,
and denies goodness,
and rejects what is right
And rejects the best
and denied the fairer,
and rejects the finest [things in life]
and denies the best (deed),
and held the most beautiful [attributed to the One] to be false—
and denies what is most beautiful
And denies the ultimate good.
