They ask you about the spoils. Say, 'The spoils are for God and the messenger.' So fear God and reform that between you, and obey God and His messenger, if you are believers.
The believers are only those who when God is mentioned, their hearts are afraid, and when His signs are recited to them, they increase them in faith; and on their Lord they rely;
Those who are steadfast in the prayer, and from what We have provided them they spend.
Those, they are the believers in truth. For them are degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and a noble provision.
As your Lord brought you forth from your house with the truth, and indeed, a party of the believers are surely averse.
They dispute with you about the truth after it has become clear, as if they were being driven to death while they were looking.
And when God promised you one of the two parties, that it would be for you, and you wished that other than the possessor of the weapons would be for you. And God desired to verify the truth with His words and cut off the root of the disbelievers.
To verify the truth and make vain the vain, even though the sinners are averse.
When you sought your Lord’s aid, then He responded to you that, 'I will reinforce you with one thousand of the angels complementing.'
And God made it not except glad tidings, and that your hearts may be at ease with it; and the help is not except from God; indeed, God is mighty, wise.
When He covered you with the drowsiness, security from Him, and He sent down water to you from the heaven to purify you with it, and remove the uncleanness of the devil from you, and to fortify your hearts and make firm the feet with it.
When your Lord inspired to the angels that, 'I am with you; so make firm those who believed. Soon I will cast terror in the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike above the necks, and strike from them all fingers.'
That is because they, they split from God and His messenger. And whoever splits from God and His messenger, then indeed, God is the severe in punishment.
That, so taste it; and that for the disbelievers is the punishment of the fire.
O those who believed! When you meet those who disbelieved advancing, then do not turn to them the backs.
And whoever turns his back to them on that day, except turning off for a fight or joining to a troop, then certainly, he has returned with anger of God, and his refuge is hell, and evil is the destination.
So you did not kill them, but God killed them. And you threw not when you threw, but God threw, and to test the believers with a good trial from Him; indeed, God is hearing, knowing.
That, and that God weakens the plot of the disbelievers.
If you seek victory, then certainly, the victory has come to you. And if you desist, then it is better for you; and if you return, We will return. And your troop will not avail you anything, even if it is numerous. And that God is with the believers.
O those who believed! Obey God and His messenger, and do not turn away from Him while you, you hear.
And do not be like those who said, 'We have heard,' while they, they do not hear.
Indeed, the worst of the creatures with God are the deaf, the dumb, those who are not intelligent.
And if God had known good in them, surely He would have made them hear; and if He had made them hear, surely they would have turned away, and they turn away.
O those who believed! Respond to God and to the messenger when He calls you to what gives you life; and know that God comes between the man and his heart; and that He, to Him you will be gathered.
And fear a trial which will definitely not befall those who did wrong among you in particular; and know that God is the severe in punishment.
And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the earth, you feared that mankind would snatch you away, then He sheltered you and He strengthened you with His help, and He provided you with some of the good things, perhaps you may give thanks.
O those who believed! Do not be treacherous to God and the messenger and be treacherous to your trusts while you, you know.
And know that your wealth and your children are only a trial, and that God, with Him is a great reward.
O those who believed! If you fear God, He will make a proof for you, and He will cover from you your evil deeds, and He will forgive you; and God is the possessor of great grace.
And when those who disbelieved plotted against you to confine you or kill you or drive you out; and they plotted, and God plotted, and God is the best of the plotters.
And when Our signs are recited to them they say, 'Certainly, we have heard. If we had willed, surely we could have said the like of this; this is not except the legends of the former people.'
And when they said, 'O God! If this, it is the truth from you, then cause stones from the heaven to rain upon us or bring us painful punishment.'
And God would not punish them while you are among them; and God would not punish them while they, they seek forgiveness.
And what ails them that God should not punish them while they, they hinder from the sacred mosque, and they are not its patrons. Its patrons are not except those who fear, but most of them do not know.
And their prayer at the House is not except whistling and clapping. So taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve.
Indeed, those who disbelieved spend their wealth to hinder from the way of God. So soon they will spend it, then it will be regret upon them, then they will be overcome. And those who disbelieved, to hell they will be gathered.
That God may distinguish the bad from the good, and put the bad, some of it on some, then heap it up all together, then put it in hell. Those, they are the losers.
Say to those who disbelieved, if they desist, what certainly is past will be forgiven them; and if they return, then certainly, the course of the former people has passed.
And fight them until there is no trial and the religion, all of it, is for God. So if they desist, then indeed, God sees what they do.
And if they turn away, then know that God is your master; excellent is the master and excellent is the helper.
And know that whatever thing you took as spoils, then that for God is one fifth of it, and for the messenger and for the relative and the orphans and the poor and the wayfarer; if you believe in God and what We sent down to Our servant on the day of the proof, on the day the two troops met; and God is powerful over everything.
When you were by the nearer side of the valley, and they were by the farther side, and the caravan was lower than you. And if you had made an appointment, surely, you would have disagreed concerning the appointment. But that God might accomplish an affair which was to be done, that those who were to be destroyed might be destroyed on the basis of a clear proof, and those who were to live might live on the basis of a clear proof; and indeed, God is surely hearing, knowing.
When God showed them to you in your dream as few, and if He had shown them as many, surely, you would have become cowardly, and surely, you would have contended with one another concerning the affair; but God saved; indeed, He knows what the breasts own.
And when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes; and He made you few in their eyes; that God might accomplish an affair which was to be done; and to God the affairs will be returned.
O those who believed! When you meet a troop, then be firm and remember God much, perhaps you may prosper.
And obey God and His messenger, and do not contend with one another then you would become cowardly and your wind would go; and be patient, indeed, God is with the patient.
And do not be like those who came forth from their homes in pride, eyeservice of mankind, and they hinder from the way of God, and God encompasses what they do.
And when the devil beautified their works for them and he said, 'No overcomer for you today among mankind, and indeed, I am a neighbour for you.' Then when the two troops saw one another, he turned back on his two heels and said, 'Indeed, I am clear of you. Indeed I, I see what you do not see. Indeed I, I fear God, and God is the severe in punishment.'
When the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is sickness said, 'Their religion has deceived these.' And whoever relies on God, then indeed, God is mighty, wise.
And if you see when the angels cause those who disbelieved to die, they strike their faces and their backs, and taste the punishment of the fire.
That is for what your hands have sent forward, and that God is not unjust to the servants.
Like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those who were before them, they disbelieved in the signs of God, then God seized them for their sins; indeed, God is strong, the severe in punishment.
That is because God would not change a favour which He bestowed on people, until they change what is in their souls, and that God is hearing, knowing.
Like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those who were before them, they called the signs of their Lord lies, then We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh, and they were all wrongdoers.
Indeed, the worst of the creatures with God are those who disbelieved, so they do not believe;
Those with whom you covenanted, then they break their covenant every time, and they, they do not fear.
So if you definitely find them in the war, then frighten away those who are behind them with them, perhaps they may remember.
And if you definitely fear treachery from people, then default against them equally; indeed, God does not love the treacherous.
And definitely do not think those who disbelieved outstripped. Indeed they, they cannot not escape.
And prepare for them what you are able of strength and of the tethered horses to frighten with it the enemy of God and your enemy and others besides them, you do not know them, God knows them. And whatever thing you spend in the way of God, it will be paid to you in full; and you, you will not be wronged.
And if they incline to peace, then incline to it, and rely on God; indeed He, He is the hearing, the knowing.
And if they desire to deceive you, then indeed, God is sufficient for you. He is the one who strengthened you with His help and with the believers;
And He united their hearts. If you had spent what is in the earth altogether, you could not have united their hearts, but God united them, indeed, He is mighty, wise.
O prophet! God is sufficient for you, and whoever has followed you among the believers.
O prophet! Urge the believers to the fight. If there are among you twenty patient, they will overcome two hundred; and if there are among you one hundred, they will overcome one thousand of those who disbelieved, because they are people who do not understand.
Now God has lightened for you, and He knew that there is weakness in you. So if there are among you one hundred patient, they will overcome two hundred; and if there are among you one thousand, they will overcome two thousand, with the permission of God; and God is with the patient.
It is not for a prophet to have captives until he makes much slaughter in the land. You desire the goods of the world, and God desires the hereafter; and God is mighty, wise.
If not for a book from God which has preceded, surely, a great punishment would have touched you concerning what you took.
So consume from what you took as spoils lawful, good; and fear God, indeed, God is forgiving, compassionate.
O prophet! Say to whoever is in your hands among the captives, 'If God knows good in your hearts, He will give you better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you; and God is forgiving, compassionate.'
And if they desire to be treacherous to you, then certainly, they were treacherous to God before, but then He enabled them; and God is knowing, wise.
Indeed, those who believed and emigrated and strove with their wealth and their souls in the way of God and those who sheltered and helped, those, some of them are patrons of some. And those who believed and did not emigrate, nothing of their patronage is for you, until they emigrate. And if they seek your help in the religion, then upon you is the help, except against people who between you and them is a covenant; and God sees what you do.
And those who disbelieved, some of them are patrons of some. If you do not do it there will be trial in the earth and great corruption.
And those who believed and emigrated and strove in the way of God and those who sheltered and helped, those, they are the believers in truth. For them is forgiveness and a noble provision.
And those who believed after and emigrated and strove with you, then those are among you. And the possessors of relationships, some of them are more worthy of some in the book of God. Indeed, God knows everything.
