A questioner asked about a punishment bound to fall.
Upon the disbelievers, none can repel it.
From God, Lord of the pathways of ascent.
The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a Day whose span is fifty thousand years.
So be patient with graceful patience.
They see it as distant.
But We see it as near.
The Day the sky will be like molten metal.
And the mountains will be like tufts of wool.
No close friend will ask about another close friend.
They will be made to see each other. The criminal will wish he could ransom himself from that Day's punishment with his own children.
And his wife and his brother.
And his clan that sheltered him.
And everyone on earth, if only it would save him.
No! It is the Raging Blaze.
A stripper of scalps.
It calls out to whoever turned away and fled.
And gathered wealth and hoarded it.
The human being was created anxious.
When hardship touches him, he panics.
And when good fortune touches him, he withholds.
Except those who pray.
Those who are constant in their prayer.
And those in whose wealth there is a recognized share.
For the beggar and the deprived.
And those who believe in the Day of Judgment.
And those who fear the punishment of their Lord.
The punishment of their Lord is not something to feel safe from.
And those who guard their chastity.
Except with their spouses or those their right hands possess, for then they are not blamed.
But whoever seeks beyond that, those are the transgressors.
And those who honor their trusts and their pledges.
And those who stand firm in their testimonies.
And those who safeguard their prayer.
Those will be honored in gardens.
So what is wrong with those who disbelieve, rushing toward you?
From the right and from the left, in crowds.
Does every one of them expect to enter a garden of bliss?
No! We created them from what they know.
I swear by the Lord of the easts and the wests, We are certainly able.
To replace them with better than them, and We cannot be outdone.
So leave them to wade in falsehood and play until they meet their Day which they are promised.
The Day they will emerge from the graves swiftly, as if racing toward an altar.
Their eyes downcast, humiliation covering them. That is the Day they were promised.
