Surah “The Reality, The Inevitable”

as rendered by Talal Itani & AI (2025) — 52 verses

The Inevitable Reality.
What is the Inevitable Reality?
What could make you understand what the Inevitable Reality is?
Thamud and Aad denied the Striking Calamity.
Thamud was destroyed by the overwhelming.
Aad was destroyed by a screaming, relentless wind.
He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days without pause, and you would have seen the people lying dead like hollow trunks of palm trees.
Do you see any trace of them remaining?
Pharaoh came, and those before him, and the overturned cities, with sin.
They defied the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip.
When the waters surged, We carried you in the sailing ship.
To make it a reminder for you, and so that attentive ears might retain it.
When the Horn is blown with a single blast.
And the earth and the mountains are lifted and crushed with a single blow.
On that Day, the Event will come to pass.
The sky will split apart, for on that Day it will be fragile.
The angels will be at its edges, and eight will carry the Throne of your Lord above them on that Day.
On that Day you will be brought forward, and nothing hidden about you will remain concealed.
Whoever is given their record in their right hand will say, "Here, read my record!"
"I knew I would meet my reckoning."
So they will be in a pleasing life.
In a lofty Paradise.
Its fruits hanging within reach.
"Eat and drink with satisfaction for what you sent ahead in days gone by."
But whoever is given their record in their left hand will say, "I wish I had never been given my record!"
"And never known what my reckoning was!"
"I wish it had been the end!"
"My wealth has not helped me at all!"
"My power has vanished from me!"
"Seize him and shackle him!"
"Then burn him in the Blaze!"
"Then bind him in a chain seventy cubits long!"
He never believed in God, the Great.
And he never encouraged feeding the poor.
So today he has no close friend here.
And no food except festering pus.
None will eat it except the sinners.
I swear by what you see.
And what you do not see.
This is the word of a noble messenger.
It is not the word of a poet. How little you believe!
Nor the word of a soothsayer. How little you reflect!
It is a revelation from the Lord of all worlds.
Had he fabricated any lies against Us.
We would have seized him by the right hand.
Then We would have severed his life-vein.
And none of you could have shielded him.
This is a reminder for those who are mindful of God.
We know that some among you will deny it.
It will be a source of anguish for the disbelievers.
It is the absolute truth.
So glorify the name of your Lord, the Great.
