The Hour has come near, and the moon has split.
If they see a sign, they turn away and say, "same old magic."
They rejected the truth and followed their desires. But everything has its time.
Stories to warn them have already come, that should have restrained them.
Profound Wisdom, yet these warnings had no effect.
So, turn away from them. The Day the Caller calls to Something terrible,
their eyes downcast in subdued awe, they will emerge from their scattered molecular remains, like swarming locusts,
scrambling towards the Caller. The unbelievers will cry, "This is a disastrous Day.”
Before them, the people of Noah rejected the truth, they rejected Our servant saying, "A madman," and he was rebuked.
So he called upon his Lord, "I am overwhelmed, [please] help me."
So We opened the floodgates of heaven with torrential rain,
made the Earth burst with gushing springs, and the waters met for an already destined purpose.
And We carried him on a vessel of planks and palm-fiber,
sailing before our watchful eyes, a reward for him who was rejected.
We left it as a sign, who then is willing to take it to heart?
How terrible were My punishment and My warning?
Hence, We made it easy to understand this Qur’an and to remember it. Who, then, is willing to keep it in mind?
The people of Aad rejected the truth. How then were My punishment and My warning?
We unleashed upon them a screaming wind, on a day of continuous catastrophe,
plucking people away, as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees.
How terrible were My punishment and My warning?
Hence, We made it easy to bear this Qur’an in mind. Who, then, is willing to keep it in mind?
The people of Thamud rejected the warnings
They said, "Are we to follow a human being, one of us? We would then be misguided and quite insane.
Has the Reminder been bestowed upon him alone out of all of us? Rather, he is a boastful liar."
They will know tomorrow who the wicked liar is.
We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. Just watch them and be patient.
Tell them that the water is to be shared between them, with each share equitably apportioned.
But they called their friend, who dared to slaughter [her].
How then were My punishment and My warning.
We released against them a single blast, and they became like crumbling twigs.
Hence, We made it easy to bear this Qur’an in mind. Who, then, is willing to keep it in mind?
The people of Lot rejected the warnings.
We unleashed upon them a shower of stones, except for the family of Lot; We rescued them before dawn
as a blessing from us. Thus, We reward those who are thankful.
Lot had already warned them of Our assault, but they dismissed the warning.
They even lusted for his guests, So We blinded their eyes. “Taste My punishment and [the fulfillment of] My warnings.”
Early morning brought them enduring punishment.
So taste My punishment [which is the fulfillment of] My warning
Hence, We made it easy to bear this Qur’an in mind. Who, then, is willing to keep it in mind?
The people of Pharaoh also received warnings.
They rejected all Our signs, So We seized them as only the Revere, the Capable will
Are those among you who deny the truth any better than these others, or do you have immunity in the Books?
Or do they say, "We are united and bound to win"?
They will all be defeated, and they will turn their backs and flee.
Rather the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour is more disastrous and bitter.
Those who force others to reject God’s messages are misguided and insane.
The Day when they are dragged on their faces into the fire: “Taste the scorching touch of Saqar.”
We have created all things in precise measures.
Our command is but one word, like a twinkling of an eye.
And We have already destroyed the likes of you. Who, then, is willing to take heed?
Everything they have done is noted in their records.
Every action, small or big, is written down.
Those who are mindful of God will be among Gardens and rivers
In a seat of honor in the presence of a Sovereign who determines all things.
