Alif Lam Mim.
These are the verses of the Wise Book.
A guidance and mercy for those who do good.
Those who establish prayer, give charity, and are certain of the Hereafter.
They are upon guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.
Among people is one who buys idle talk to lead others astray from God's path without knowledge, and mocks it. For such people is a humiliating punishment.
When Our verses are recited to him, he turns away in arrogance as if he never heard them, as if there is deafness in his ears. So give him news of a painful punishment.
Those who believe and do righteous deeds will have Gardens of Bliss.
They will remain there forever. This is God's true promise, and He is the Almighty, the Wise.
He created the heavens without pillars that you can see, and He cast into the earth firm mountains so it would not shake with you, and He spread throughout it every kind of creature. We sent down water from the sky and caused every noble pair of plants to grow in it.
This is God's creation. So show Me what those besides Him have created. No, the wrongdoers are in clear error.
We gave Luqman wisdom: "Be grateful to God." Whoever is grateful is grateful for his own benefit, and whoever is ungrateful, then God is Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.
Luqman said to his son while advising him, "My son, do not associate anything with God. Associating partners with Him is a tremendous wrong."
We commanded the human being concerning his parents. His mother carried him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents. To Me is the final return.
But if they pressure you to associate with Me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them. Accompany them in this world with kindness, and follow the path of those who turn to Me. Then to Me is your return, and I will inform you of what you used to do.
"My son, even if it were the weight of a mustard seed, hidden within a rock or in the heavens or in the earth, God will bring it forth. God is Subtle, All-Aware."
My son, establish prayer, command what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient with whatever befalls you. This is among the most resolute of matters.
Do not turn your cheek away from people in contempt, and do not walk through the earth with arrogance. God does not love anyone who is boastful and proud.
Be moderate in your pace and lower your voice. The most hateful of sounds is the braying of donkeys.
Do you not see that God has made everything in the heavens and the earth serve you, and has lavished His favors upon you, both seen and unseen? Yet among people are those who argue about God without knowledge, without guidance, and without an illuminating scripture.
When they are told, "Follow what God has sent down," they say, "No, we will follow what we found our fathers doing." Even if Satan is calling them to the punishment of the Blaze?
Whoever surrenders his face to God while doing good has grasped the firmest handhold. To God belongs the outcome of all matters.
Whoever disbelieves, do not let his disbelief grieve you. To Us is their return, and We will inform them of what they did. God knows well what lies within the hearts.
We let them enjoy themselves for a little while, then We will drive them to a crushing punishment.
If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely say, "God." Say, "All praise belongs to God." But most of them do not know.
To God belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. God is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.
If all the trees on earth were pens and the sea, replenished by seven more seas, were ink, the words of God would not be exhausted. God is Almighty, All-Wise.
Your creation and your resurrection are only like that of a single soul. God is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
Do you not see that God merges the night into the day and merges the day into the night, and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running its course for an appointed term, and that God is fully aware of all you do?
That is because God is the Truth, and whatever they invoke besides Him is falsehood, and God is the Most High, the Most Great.
Do you not see that ships sail through the sea by the grace of God, to show you some of His signs? In that are signs for everyone who is patient and grateful.
When waves like canopies cover them, they call upon God, sincere in their devotion to Him. But when He delivers them safely to shore, some of them waver. None reject Our signs except every treacherous ingrate.
O people, be mindful of your Lord and fear a Day when no parent will avail their child, nor will any child avail their parent in the least. The promise of God is true, so do not let the life of this world deceive you, and do not let the Deceiver deceive you about God.
With God is knowledge of the Hour. He sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware.
