Surah “The Bee”

as rendered by The Wise Quran Project — 128 verses

The command of God will come, so do not seek to hasten it. Glory be to Him and exalted is He above what they associate.
He sends down the angels with the spirit of His command to whom He wills of His servants that, 'Warn that He, there is no god but I, so fear Me.'
He created the heavens and the earth with the truth. Exalted is He above what they associate.
He created man from a sperm; then behold, he is a clear opponent.
And the cattle, He created them for you; in them is warmth and benefits, and from them you eat.
And for you in them is beauty at the time of returning from pasture and at the time of pasturing.
And they carry your burdens to a land which you could not reach except with hardship of the souls. Indeed, your Lord is surely pitying, compassionate.
And the horses and the mules and the asses, to ride them and as an adornment. And He creates what you do not know.
And to God is the goal of the way, and from it there is one who deviates. And had He willed surely, He would have guided you all together.
He is the one who sent down water for you from the heaven; from it is a drink and from it trees in which you pasture;
With it He makes to grow for you the corn and the olive trees and the palms and the grapes and of all the fruits; indeed, in that surely is a sign for people who think.
And He subjected to you the night and the day and the sun and the moon and the stars, subjected by His command. Indeed, in that surely are signs for people who are intelligent.
And what He dispersed for you in the earth, its colours are different. Indeed, in that surely is a sign for people who remember.
And He is the one who subjected the sea that you may eat fresh meat from it; and you bring forth from it ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships cleaving through it, and that you may seek of His grace, and perhaps you may give thanks.
And He threw firm mountains in the earth lest it moves with you; and rivers and ways; perhaps you may be guided.
And landmarks; and by the star they are guided.
So is He who creates like he who does not create? So will you not remember?
And if you count the favour of God, you will not number them. Indeed, God is surely forgiving, compassionate.
And God knows what you conceal and what you publish.
And those who they call on besides God do not create anything, and they are created.
Dead not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be raised.
Your god is one god, but then those who do not believe in the hereafter their hearts deny and they are proud.
No doubt that God knows what they conceal and what they publish. Indeed He, He does not love the proud.
And when it is said to them, 'What has your Lord sent down?’ They say, 'The legends of the former people.'
That they may bear their burdens entirely on the Day of Resurrection, and some of the burdens of those whom they caused to go astray without knowledge. Lo, evil is what they will bear.
Certainly, those who were before them plotted, then God came to their building from the foundations, then the roof fell upon them from above them, and the punishment came to them from where they perceive not.
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and He will say, 'Where are My partners, those who you were splitting concerning them?' Those who were given the knowledge will say, 'Indeed, the disgrace today and the evil are upon the disbelievers.'
Those who the angels cause them to die wronging their souls, then they will offer the peace: 'We were not doing evil.' Nay, indeed, God knows what you used to do.
So enter the gates of hell, to dwell forever in it; so surely evil is the abode of the proud.
And it will be said to those who feared, 'What has your Lord sent down?' They will say, 'Good.' For those who do good in this world is good; and surely the home of the hereafter is better; and surely excellent is the home of those who fear.
Gardens of Eden, they will enter them, beneath which the rivers flow; for them in it is what they will. Thus God recompenses those who fear.
Those who the angels cause them to die good. They will say, 'Peace be on you. Enter the garden for what you used to do.'
Do they wait except that the angels come to them or the command of your Lord comes? Thus did those who were before them; and God wronged them not, but they used to wrong their souls.
Then the evils of what they did befell them, and what they used to mock at surrounded them.
And those who associated partners said, 'Had God willed, we would not have served anything besides Him, we nor our forefathers; and we would not have forbidden anything besides Him.' Thus did those who were before them. Then is there upon the messengers except the clear communication?
And surely, certainly, We sent a messenger in every nation that, 'Serve God and avoid Al taghut.' Then among them is he who God guided, and among them is he upon whom the error was due; so travel in the earth, then see how the end of the deniers was.
If you are eager for their guidance, then indeed, God does not guide those who He causes to go astray and there are no helpers for them.
And they swore by God the utmost of their oaths, 'God will not raise he who dies,' Nay, a true promise upon Him, but most of mankind do not know.
That He may make clear to them that which they disagree about, and that those who disbelieved may know that they are liars.
Our only speech to a thing when We desire it is that We say to it 'Be,' then it is.
And those who emigrated in God after they were wronged, We will surely, definitely settle them in the world good; and surely the reward of the hereafter is greater, if only they know.
Those who are patient and upon their Lord they rely.
And We have not sent before you except men, We inspired to them, so ask the people of the reminder, if you do not know,
With the clear proofs and the scriptures; and We have sent down the reminder to you, that you may make clear to mankind what has been sent down to them, and perhaps they may think.
So are those who plotted the evils secure from God causing the earth to sink with them or the punishment coming to them from where they do not perceive?
Or Him seizing them in their going to and fro? Then they will not escape.
Or Him seizing them with fear? Then indeed, your Lord is surely pitying, compassionate.
And did they not look at what thing God created? Its shadows shift to the right and the left prostrating to God and they are contemptible.
And to God prostrates what is in the heavens and what is in the earth of creature and the angels, and they are not proud;
They fear their Lord above them and they do what they are commanded.
And God said, 'Do not take two gods, He is only one god, so Me, so fear Me.'
And for Him is what is in the heavens and the earth; and for Him permanently is the religion; so will you fear other than God?
And what is with you of favour, then from God; then when the harm touches you, then to Him you supplicate.
Then when He removes the harm from you, behold, a party of you associate partners with their Lord.
That they may be ungrateful for what We gave them. So enjoy, then soon you will know.
And they assign a portion of what We have provided them to what they do not know. By God, surely you will definitely be asked about what you used to forge.
And they assign the daughters to God. Glory be to Him. And for them is what they desire.
And when one of them is given glad tidings of the female, his face becomes black and he is filled with anger.
He disappears from the sight of the people from the evil of what he was given glad tidings of. Should he keep it upon abasement or bury it in the dust? Lo, evil is what they judge.
For those who do not believe in the hereafter is the similitude of evil, and for God is the highest similitude. And He is the Mighty, the Wise.
And if God chastises mankind for their wrongdoing, He would not leave a creature upon it; but He defers them to a named term; then when their term comes, they cannot put back an hour, nor can they precede.
And they assign to God what they are averse to; and their tongues describe the lie that for them is the best. No doubt that for them is the fire and that they will be neglected.
By God, surely, certainly We sent to nations before you, then the devil beautified their works for them, so he is their patron today, and for them is painful punishment.
And We have not sent down to you the book except that you may make clear to them that which they disagreed about; and guidance and mercy for people who believe.
And God sent down water from the heaven, then He gave the earth life with it after its death; indeed, in that surely is a sign to people who hear.
And indeed, there is surely a lesson for you in the cattle; We give you to drink from what is in its bellies, between chyme and blood, pure milk, easy to swallow for those who drink.
And among fruits, the palms and the grapes, you take from it an intoxicant and a good provision; indeed, in that surely is a sign for people who are intelligent.
And your Lord inspired to the bee that, 'Take houses from the mountains and from the trees and from what they erect.
Then eat of all the fruits, then follow docilely the ways of your Lord.' There comes forth from their bellies a drink, its colours are different; in it is healing for mankind. Indeed, in that surely is a sign for people who think.
And God created you, then He will cause you to die; and among you is he who is sent back to the most vile of life, so that after knowledge he knows nothing. Indeed, God is knowing, powerful.
And God gave preference to some of you over some in the provision; So those to whom preference was given will not restore their provision to what their right hands possess, so they are equal in it. So will they deny the favour of God?
And God made wives for you from yourselves, and He made children and grandchildren for you from your wives; and He has provided for you of the good things. So do they believe in vanity and in the favour of God they, they disbelieve?
And they serve besides God what does not control provision at all for them from the heavens and the earth, and they are not able.
So do not strike the similitudes for God. Indeed, God knows and you, you do not know.
God has struck a similitude: an owned servant, he has no power over anything; and one who We provided him with good provision from Us, then he spends from it in secret and in public. Are they equal? Praise is for God. Nay, most of them do not know.
And God has struck a similitude: two men, one of them is dumb, he has no power over anything, and he is a burden to his master; wherever he turns him, he does not come with good. Is he equal, he and one who commands equity and he is on a straight way?
And for God is the unseen of the heavens and the earth. And the command of the hour is not except like the glance of the eye, or it is nearer. Indeed, God is powerful over everything.
And God brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers knowing nothing; and He made for you the hearing and the eyes and the hearts, perhaps you may give thanks.
Did they not look at the birds subjected in the air of the heaven? None holds them except God; indeed, in that surely are signs for people who believe.
And God made a means for rest for you of your houses; and He made houses for you from the skins of the cattle; you deem them light on the day of your departure and on the day of your abiding; and from their wool and their fur and their hair are furnishings and provision until a time.
And God made shades for you from what He created; and He made shelters for you from the mountains; and He made shirts for you to shield you from the heat; and coats of mail to shield you from your valour. Thus He perfects His favour on you, perhaps you may submit.
So if they turn away, then only upon you is the clear communication.
They recognise the favour of God, then they deny it, and most of them are the disbelievers.
And on the day We raise a witness from every nation, then permission will not be given to those who disbelieved, and they, they will not be regarded with favour.
And when those who did wrong see the punishment, then it will not be lightened for them and they, they will not be given respite.
And when those who associated partners see their partners, they will say, 'Our Lord! These are our partners, those who we used to call on besides You.' But then they will offer to them the speech, 'Indeed, you are surely liars.'
And they will offer the peace to God on that day; and what they used to forge will go astray from them.
Those who disbelieved and hindered from the way of God, We will give them more punishment above the punishment because they used to work corruption.
And on the day We raise a witness in every nation against them from themselves, and We will bring you a witness against these. And We send down to you the book, a clarification for everything and guidance, and mercy and glad tidings for the submitters.
Indeed, God commands equity and goodness and giving to the relative, and He forbids immorality and the bad and insolence; He admonishes you, perhaps you may remember.
And fulfil the covenant of God when you have covenanted, and do not break the oaths after their confirmation and certainly, you have made God a surety over you. Indeed, God knows what you do.
And do not be like the one who untwisted her yarn after strength into untwisted threads; you take your oaths as deceit between you, that a nation, it has exceeded a nation; God only tests you with it, and He will surely, definitely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection what you used to disagree about.
And had God willed surely He would have made you one nation; but He causes whom He wills to go astray and He guides whom He wills; and surely, you will definitely be asked about what you used to do.
And do not take your oaths as deceit between you, then a foot slips after its firmness, and you taste the evil because you hindered from the way of God, and for you is great punishment.
And do not sell the covenant of God for a little price; indeed, what is with God, it is better for you, if you know.
What is with you depletes, and what is with God remains; and surely We will definitely recompense those who are patient their reward for the best of what they used to do.
Whoever did right of male or female, and he is a believer, then surely, We will definitely give him life, a good life; and surely, We will definitely recompense them their reward for the best of what they used to do.
So when you read the Quran, then seek refuge with God from the stoned devil.
Indeed he, he has no authority over those who believed and upon their Lord they rely.
His authority is only over those who make him a patron and those who they associate partners with Him.
And when We substitute a sign in place of a sign, and God knows best what He sends down, they say, 'You are only a forger.' Nay, most of them do not know.
Say, 'The holy spirit has brought it down from your Lord with the truth, to make firm those who believed and guidance and glad tidings for the submitters.'
And surely, certainly We know that they say, 'Only a mortal teaches him.' The language of the one who they incline to is foreign, and this is clear Arabic language.
Indeed, those who do not believe in the signs of God, God will not guide them, and for them is painful punishment.
Only those who do not believe in the signs of God forge the lie, and those, they are the liars.
Whoever disbelieves in God after his faith, except one who is compelled while his heart is at ease with the faith, but whoever has expanded a breast with the disbelief, then upon them is anger of God, and for them is great punishment.
That is because they, they preferred the worldly life to the hereafter and that God does not guide the disbelieving people.
Those are the ones who God has set a seal upon their hearts and their hearing and their eyes; and those, they are the heedless.
No doubt that they, in the hereafter, they are the losers.
Then indeed, your Lord, to those who emigrated after they were tried, then strove and were patient, indeed, your Lord after it surely is forgiving, compassionate.
On the day every soul will come to argue for itself, and every soul will be paid in full what it did, and they, they will not be wronged.
And God has struck a similitude: a town, it was secure, at ease, its provision coming to it comfortably from every place, then it was ungrateful for the favours of God, so God made it taste the garment of hunger and fear for what they used to do.
And surely, certainly a messenger from them came to them, then they called him a liar, so the punishment seized them, while they were wrongdoers.
So eat of what God has provided you lawful, good; and give thanks for the favour of God, if you serve Him.
He has only forbidden you the dead, and the blood, and the flesh of swine, and what has been offered to other than God; but then he who was forced, not seeking nor transgressing, then indeed, God is forgiving, compassionate.
And do not say to what your tongues describe, the lie, 'This is lawful and this is unlawful,’ to forge the lie against God; indeed, those who forge the lie against God, they will not prosper.
A little enjoyment and for them is painful punishment.
And to those who became Jews We have forbidden what We narrated to you before; and We have not wronged them, but they used to wrong their souls.
Then indeed, your Lord to those who did evil in ignorance, then repented after that and reformed; indeed, your Lord after it is surely forgiving, compassionate.
Indeed, Abraham was a nation obedient to God, upright, and he was not of the idolaters;
Thankful for His favours; He chose him and He guided him to the straight way.
And We gave him good in the world, and indeed he, in the hereafter, is surely among the righteous.
Then We inspired to you, 'Follow the religion of Abraham, upright; and he was not of the idolaters.'
The Sabbath was only made for those who disagreed concerning it; and indeed, your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they used to disagree about.
Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good admonition; and argue with them with that which it is best; indeed, your Lord, He knows best he who has gone astray from His way, and He knows best the guided ones.
And if you punish, then punish with the like of what you were punished with; and surely if you are patient, surely it is best for the patient.
And be patient; and your patience is not except with God. And do not grieve over them; and do not be in distress from what they plot.
Indeed, God is with those who fear and those who they are good-doers.
