O Prophet, why do you forbid what God has made lawful for you, seeking to please your wives? God is Forgiving, Merciful.
God has ordained for you the dissolution of your oaths. God is your Protector, and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
When the Prophet confided something to one of his wives, and she disclosed it, and God made it known to him, he acknowledged part of it and overlooked part. When he told her about it, she said, "Who informed you of this?" He said, "The All-Knowing, the All-Aware informed me."
If you two turn to God in repentance, your hearts have already inclined. But if you conspire against him, then God is his Protector, and Gabriel, and the righteous among the believers, and the angels after that are his supporters.
Perhaps his Lord, if he divorces you, will give him in exchange wives better than you: submitting to God, believing, devout, repentant, worshiping, fasting, previously married and virgins.
O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are angels, harsh and severe, who never disobey God in what He commands them and do whatever they are commanded.
O you who disbelieved, make no excuses today. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.
O you who believe, turn to God in sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove your sins from you and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow, on the Day when God will not disgrace the Prophet and those who believed with him. Their light will stream before them and on their right. They will say, "Our Lord, perfect our light for us and forgive us. You have power over all things."
O Prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be stern with them. Their refuge is Hell, and what a wretched destination.
God sets forth an example for those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous servants, yet they betrayed them. So they availed them nothing against God, and it was said, "Enter the Fire with those who enter."
God sets forth an example for those who believed: the wife of Pharaoh, when she said, "My Lord, build for me a house near You in Paradise, and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds, and save me from the wrongdoing people."
And Mary, daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into it of Our spirit. She believed in the words of her Lord and His scriptures, and she was among the devout.
