When the Inevitable Event occurs
no one will deny its occurrence.
Lowering Some and raising others.
When the Earth is shaken violently
and the mountains are crushed and crumble
and become scattered dust
then you [human beings] will be divided into three separate groups:
Those on the right. What of those on the right?
And those on the left. What of those on the left?
And those who are ahead upfront,
they are the ones brought near
in the Gardens of Bliss
They are a large group of the earlier generations
and a few of later generations,
They recline on luxurious woven couches.
Reclining on them, facing each other
flowing among them will be ever youthful beings
with vessels, pitchers and a cup of a pure drink
causing no headache and no intoxication.
There will be a selection of fruits
and any bird-meat they desire
and Hoor Ein
like well-protected pearls,
a reward for what they used to do.
They will hear no idle or sinful talk there,
only the greeting: "Peace, peace."
Those on the right, what of those on the right?
[They will be] among thorns free lotus trees
and fruit-laden acacias
and extended shade,
outpouring water
abundant fruits
neither withheld nor forbidden,
on elevated daybeds
We have specially created them
originals,
very loving and of equal age to their husbands.
For those of the right
a group of the earlier generation
and a group of the later generation.
Those of the left, what of those on the left?
[They will be] amidst scorching fire and scalding water
and a shade of black smoke,
neither cool nor refreshing.
They used to live luxuriously
but they persisted in the greatest offenses against God
and they used to say, "When we’re dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be resurrected,
and our forefathers too?”
Say, "The former and the later people
will all be gathered on a predetermined Day."
Then you, you who are misguided and reject the truth,
will be eating from trees of Zaqqum.
You will be filling your bellies with it,
drinking boiling water on top of it,
drinking it like thirsty camels.
That will be their welcome on Judgment Day.
We created you, So why do you not believe?
Have you seen the semen which you ejaculate?
Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?
We have decreed death among you, and no one will surpass Us.
if We want to replace you and to recreate you in a way unknown to you.
You have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?
Have you seen what you cultivate?
Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?
If We wish, We can turn it into ruins, and you would be left to wonder,
[Saying], "we are now in debt;
Rather, We have been deprived."
And have you seen the water that you drink?
Is it you who sent it down from the clouds, or are We the Sender?
If We wish, We can make it salty, why then you are not grateful?
And have you seen the fire that you kindle?
Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the Producer?
We have made it a reminder and provision for all who kindle it,
exalt, then, the glory of your Lord’s name the Magnificent.
I swear by the positioning of the stars,
a tremendous oath, if you only knew,
it is a noble Qur’an
kept in a well-protected book;
where none will be allowed to touch it except the purified,
revealed gradually by the Lord of the worlds.
Is it then this statement that you are ridiculing
and you deny it as if your livelihood depends on it?
Why then, when the Soul at death reaches the throat,
and yoou are at that time looking on,
when we’re closer to him than you are, but you do not see.
Why then, if you are not dependent on Us,
don’t you restore his Soul to him, if your claim is valid?
If the deceased were of those brought near to God
he would then have eternal harmony, eternal delight, and a Garden of Bliss.
And if he was from those on the right
then "Peace be to you, from your companions on the right."
But if he was from those who called the truth a lie and were misguided
he will be welcomed with boiling water
and will burn in Hell.
This is the absolute Truth,
exalt, then, the glory of your Lord’s name the Magnificent.
