Praise the limitless glory of your Lord’s name, the Most High,
Who created and proportioned,
Who destined and [then] guided.
He who brought out the green pasture
and then made it black stubble.
We will make you recite, and you will not forget,
except what God wills. He knows what is open to one’s perception and what is hidden.
And We will ease you toward the easy way.
So, remind, if reminding helps.
He who fears God will remember.
But the most wicked will ignore it.
He will kindle the greatest fire,
where he will remain, neither dying nor living.
Successful is he who purifies himself,
and remembers to call on his Lord and pray.
But you prefer this worldly life,
whereas the Hereafter is better and more enduring.
