Surah “The Congregation, Friday, The Day of Congregation”

as rendered by Talal Itani & AI (2025) — 11 verses

Everything in the heavens and everything on earth glorifies God, the King, the Holy, the Almighty, the Wise.
He is the One who raised among the unlettered people a messenger from among themselves, reciting His verses to them, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, though before they had been in clear misguidance.
And to others among them who have not yet joined them. He is the Almighty, the Wise.
That is the grace of God which He gives to whom He wills. God is the possessor of immense grace.
The likeness of those who were entrusted with the Torah but then failed to carry it is like a donkey carrying books. Wretched is the likeness of people who deny the signs of God. God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
Say, "O you who are Jewish, if you claim that you are allies of God to the exclusion of all other people, then wish for death if you are truthful."
But they will never wish for it because of what their hands have sent ahead. God knows well the wrongdoers.
Say, "The death you flee from will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of what you used to do."
O you who believe, when the call to prayer is made on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of God and leave off trade. That is better for you, if only you knew.
When the prayer is concluded, disperse through the land and seek from God's grace, and remember God often so that you may succeed.
When they see trade or entertainment, they rush toward it and leave you standing. Say, "What is with God is better than entertainment and trade. God is the best of providers."
