Surah “The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers”

as rendered by Safi Kaskas — 60 verses

By those [winds] scattering dust,
and those (clouds) heavily laden [with water]
and those sailing with ease
and those distributing [rain] as ordained,
what you are promised is true.
The judgment will come.
By the sky that is woven,
you differ in what you say [about this message].
He who deceives himself is misled away from it.
The speculators destroy themselves
they are unaware that they are lost in ignorance.
They ask, "When is the Day of Judgment?"
The Day they will be tested when they see the Fire
[And will be told], "Taste your scheme. This is what you were rushing toward."
While those who were mindful of God will be among Gardens and springs,
accepting what their Lord has given them. Verily, they were those who do good.
They used to sleep a little at night,
and at dawn they would pray for forgiveness,
and assign a share of their wealth to the needy and the deprived.
For the certain [in faith], they are signs on Earth
and in yourselves, will you not, see?
And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised.
By the Lord of the heaven and Earth, it is as true as the fact that you speak.
Has the story of Abraham’s honored guests reached you?
When they entered to see him, they said, "Peace." He answered, "Peace to you strangers.”
Then he went off to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf
and placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?"
He then began to feel apprehensive. They said, "Do not fear," and gave him good news of a boy who would be gifted with knowledge.
His wife approached with a scream, struck her face and protested, "A barren old woman [like me]!"
They said, "Thus said your Lord; He is the All-Wise, the All-knowing."
[Abraham] then enquired, "What is your business, messengers?"
They said, " We have been sent to a dissenting people
to send down on them rocks of clay,
marked by your Lord for those who rejected His messages and have severed all relations with God
So We brought out the believers that were in town.
But found only one household of people who submitted to God.
And We left in town a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.
There is another sign in Moses, when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.
But Pharaoh turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman."
So We seized him and his Soldiers and threw them into the sea. Pharaoh was to blame.
And a sign in Aad, when We unleashed against them the devastating wind.
It spared nothing it came upon, and left it like decayed ruins.
And a sign in Thamud, it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a while."
But they defied their Lord’s command, So the thunderbolt struck them as they looked.
They were unable to rise, nor could they find help.
And before that the people of Noah. They were wicked people.
We built the universe with power, and We are steadily expanding it .
And the Earth We spread it out, How well We smoothed it out.
And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will reflect.
So flee towards God. I am sent from Him with a clear warning for you.
And do not set up any other god with God. I come to you with a clear warning from Him.
Similarly, every time a messenger came to those before them, they said, "A magician or a madman."
Did they recommend it to one another? Rather, they are people full of tyranny.
So turn away from them, you are not to blame.
And go on reminding them. It is good for the believers to be reminded.
I only created the Jinn and human beings to worship Me.
I do not require any provision from them, nor do I require them to feed Me.
It is God who is the Provider to all, the Possessor of Power, the Strong.
Those who were unjust have their share of bad deeds just like their predecessors, so let them not rush My punishment.
How terrible for the unbelievers their Day which they are promised.
