qāla arāghibun anta ʿan ālihatī yāib'rāhīmu la-in lam tantahi la-arjumannaka wa-uh'jur'nī maliyya
He said, "Why abandoning yourself (from) my gods, O Ibrahim? Surely, if not you desist surely, I will stone you, so leave me (for) a prolonged time."
Generally Accepted Translations of the Meaning
He answered: "Dost thou dislike my gods, O Abraham? Indeed, if thou desist not, I shall most certainly cause thee to be stoned to death! Now begone from me for good!"
(The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!"
He said: Rejectest thou my gods, O Abraham? If thou cease not, I shall surely stone thee. Depart from me a long while
He threatened, “How dare you reject my idols, O Abraham! If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you ˹to death˺. So be gone from me for a long time!”
[His father] said, Do you reject my deities, Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall surely stone you to death. Keep out of my way
[His father] said, "Are you forsaking my gods, Abraham? If you do not stop this, I will surely stone you. Now get away from me and don’t come back."
He said: Art thou one who shrinks from my gods, O Abraham? If thou wilt not refrain thyself, certainly, I will stone thee, so abandon me for some while.
He said: "Do you dislike my gods, Abraham? If you do not stop, I´ll cast you out. Leave me alone as soon as you can!"
He said: Do you dislike my gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist I will certainly revile you, and leave me for a time
He (father) said: “Do you reject my deity, O Abraham? If you don’t stop this, I will indeed stone you ( to death). So get away from me safely.”
He said, “Do you have a disinclination toward my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall pelt you with stones. Be gone from me for good.”
He said, “Do you reject my gods, O Abraham? If you cease not, I shall surely stone you. Take leave of me for a long while!
He said, "Do you reject my gods, O Abraham? If you do not stop, I will stone you. Now leave me for a long time."
He said, 'Are you renouncing my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will stone you. So leave me alone for a while.'
His father replied: "How dare you renounce my gods O Abraham? If you do not stop this folly, I will indeed stone you to death: so begone from my house this very moment!"
(The father) said: “Are you one who feels repulsion against my gods, O Ibrahim? Indeed, if you do not bring this (attitude) to an end, surely I will extern you (chase you out) and leave me free (to remain involved in my gods).
He said, "Have you turned away from your gods, oh Ibraheem? Desist, for if you do not, I shall stone you to death. Out of my sight, now!"
(The father) replied: "Do you hate my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you do not stop, I will really stone you: Now get away from me for a good long time!"
[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time."
His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again"
He said, .Are you averse to my gods O Ibrahim? Should you not stop, I will definitely stone you. And leave me for good
He answered, "You dislike my gods, O Abraham? If you cease not, I will certainly cause you to be stoned to death! Now get away from me for good! " (As the Chief Priest, Azar had the power to declare someone apostate and condemn him to be stoned. For the Divine Statute of no compulsion in religion see (2:256))
Said he, "Do you desirously shirk from my gods, O Ibrahim? Indeed, in case you do not refrain, indeed I will definitely stone you; so forsake me for a long while."
Said he, "What! Do you reject (or hate) my gods, O Abraham? Verily, if you do not desist I will certainly stone you; but get you gone from me for a long time!"
His father answered, ‘Abraham, do you reject my gods? I will stone you if you do not stop this. Keep out of my way!’
He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long
He said: "Are you averse to my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall have you stoned to death. So go away for a while from me."
He said, ´Do you forsake my gods, Ibrahim? If you do not stop, I will stone you. Keep away from me for a good long time.´

He said, ‘Abraham! Are you renouncing my gods? If you do not relinquish, I will stone you. Keep away from me for a long while.’
He said: "Have you forsaken my gods O Abraham? If you do not stop this, I will stone you. You should let me be."
His father replied, “Ibrahim, are you turning away from my gods? If you do not stop this, I will torture you; off you go and leave me alone.”
He replied, “Do you hate my gods, O Abraham? If you do not cease, I will indeed stone you. So get away from me now.
He said: “Abraham, do you hate my gods? If you do not stop, I shall stone you. Keep away from me for a long while.”
The father said: "Abraham, have you turned away from my gods? If you do not give this up, I shall stone you to death. Now begone from me forever."
He (Abraham's father) said, "Are you averse to my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist I will certainly pelt you with stones. And leave me alone for now."

He said, 'do you turn your face from my gods O Ibrahim'? No doubt, if you would not desist, then I shall stone you, and be away from me for a good long time.
He said, "Have you forsaken my gods, O Abraham? Unless you stop, I will stone you. Leave me alone."
But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile.
He said, "What! You turn away from my gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you, and keep no relation with me for a long while."
His father replied: “How dare you to reject the gods of your father? If you do not stop this nonsense, I will stone you. Now get out of here before I punish you.”
He said: Dislikest thou my gods, O Abraham? If thou desist not, I will certainly drive thee away. And leave me for a time
He said: "Are you shunning/turning away from my gods, you Abraham? If (E) you do not end/terminate/stop, I will stone you, and leave/distance me a long/life time."
He replied, `Dost thou turn away from my gods, O Abraham? If thou desist not, I will surely cut off all relations with thee. Now leave me alone for a while.
He said, "Have you abandoned my gods O Abraham? If you do not stop this, I will disown you. Leave me alone."
(Thereupon Abraham's uncle) replied, `Do you dare to be averse to my gods, O Abraham? If you do not give up, I shall certainly cut off all relations with you. You had better leave me alone for a time.
(Azar) said: ‘Ibrahim (Abraham), have you turned away from my gods? If you do not practically desist (from this opposition), I shall certainly stone you to death. And keep away from me for a long while.
He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you."

He (his father) said (Qaala), "Are you (Anta) coveting (-Araagibun Än) my gods (Aalihatii), O (Yaa) Abraham (Ib'raahiimu)? If (La'in) you do not (Lam') refrain (Tantahi), I will (La) stone you (Ar'jumannaka), so (Wa) leave me (Eh'jur'nii) for a long time (Maliyyaa)."
He said, “Do you dislike my gods, O Abraham! If you do not desist I will most certainly stone you to death so leave me for a long while.”
His father said: ‘Are you renouncing my deities, O’ Abraham? If it happens that you don’t desist, then I will certainly stone you (to death). Now stay away from me for some while."

He said, "Are you rejecting my gods, O Abraham? If you do not stop, I will stone you, so better go away from me for a long time."
He said: 'Do you dislike my gods O' Abraham? If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you. Be gone from me for a long time'.
He said, "Do you forsake my gods O Ibrahim. If you do not desist I will definitely stone you, now go away from me for a long time."
There, the father exclaimed: "Do you Ibrahim drop my gods into oblivion and dismiss them as unfit for worship"! "unless you desist" he added, "from disqualifying them and treating them as of no importance, I promise I will pelt you with stones. You had better keep away for sometime so that you do not come within the measure of my wrath and until I have forgotten the incident"
He said, 'Do you detest my gods, O Abraham? Surely, if you do not desist, surely, I will definitely stone you; and depart from me for a time.'
